Alex May

Visual art has always been a part of me. Starting with cartoon characters as a kid, I weaved my way through the visual arts to find my niche. From calligraphy, to pencil drawings, to printmaking and collage, I finally settled on paint as my tool of choice.

I fell in love with the texture, and the shadows and light that inhabited my subconscious. I found joy in unfolding my inner self onto paper and canvas, revealing the unknown and unrealized.  It has become a labour of love, a constant in my life.

What do you see?

The first thing I always ask a viewer is, "What do you see? How does it make you feel?"  I hope to hear how you react to the work because art is more than just decoration; it is a reflection of life.
